Bright Ideas: How to Choose the Perfect Neon Sign for Your Wedding Reception

Happily Ever After Neon Sign for Wedding decor.
Neon signs have surged in popularity as wedding decor over the past few years, becoming more accessible and trendy. When selecting a neon sign for your wedding reception, there are several key factors to consider to ensure it complements your celebration perfectly.
First, think about the design and personalization. Decide whether you want a custom sign with your names, initials, or a special phrase, or if a pre-made design with common wedding phrases like "Love" or "Just Married" will suffice. Choose a font and style that match the overall theme and aesthetic of your wedding. Script fonts often work well for romantic settings, while modern fonts suit contemporary weddings.
Next, consider the color and brightness. Select a color that matches or complements your wedding color scheme, as neon signs come in various colors, from classic white to vibrant hues. Ensure the sign’s brightness is appropriate, standing out without overwhelming other lighting elements. A pro tip is to purchase a neon sign with a dimming switch. If your neon light is too bright, it won't photograph well. When we use a neon sign for our photo booth setup, we normally have it dimmed to the lowest setting.
Size and placement are also crucial. Measure the space where you plan to place the sign to ensure it fits appropriately, and decide on a location for maximum impact, such as behind the head table, at the entrance, or near the dance floor. Ensure the sign is visible to guests but not obstructive.
Power source and installation are important practical considerations. Check the power requirements and availability at your venue, as some neon signs require standard outlets while others might need special considerations. We DJ’d a wedding this past year where the client brought a large neon sign that consumed a lot of electricity. It required more power than the venue’s fuses could handle and caused our speakers' volume to fluctuate. Please don’t sabotage your DJ just because you NEED gargantuan glow signage.
Plan for how the sign will be mounted or displayed, ensuring it is secure and safe, whether it’s hung, placed on a stand, or mounted on a wall. Lastly, consider your budget and the quality of the sign. Neon signs can range from affordable to quite expensive depending on customization and size, so set a budget and explore options within that range. Opt for a reputable supplier known for quality craftsmanship, as high-quality neon signs will be more durable and have a better overall appearance.
Considering these factors will help you select a neon sign that enhances the ambiance of your wedding reception and creates a memorable focal point for you and your guests.
